Can I really get an apartment security system without a contract?

There is now an alarm system that is apartment friendly!  This wireless apartment security system uses 3M Command strips to adhere to the walls, doors, and trim!  This allows the system to be removed without damage to those surfaces!  Even better than that is there are no contracts to sign and professional monitoring for just $15 a month!

Apartment security systems have come a long way over the years!  It used to be that you had to sign a three year contract for alarm services!  A three year contract just about excluded renters from have a security system.  Those days have passed!  You can now have a  completely wireless apartment security system that works through the cellular towers and is truly wireless!  No phone or internet wires are needed, just basic electricity!  There are no contracts, and monitoring is $15 a month!

This system may look “pretty”, but what it is is “pretty” smart!  This system when triggered beeps at the keypad only counting down the seconds till it goes into full alarm!  When the countdown hits zero, it calls and connects to the security monitoring center before sounding the alarm!  This prevents an intruder from disabling the system before an alert can be sent!  Better yet it you can opt in for the $5 upgrade to the text alert service and you will know within seconds that someone has entered your apartment!  For the extra $5 you get text or email alerts whenever there is an event with your security system!  So if it is armed and someone enters your home, even if they disarm the system, you still know!

This has got to be the smartest system I have found on the market!  Plus I saw where a customer actually painted there unit to better blend into the walls and trim!  They used a plastic based spray primer that was a close color match to the walls and trim paint!  They taped off all the important openings to make sure they didn’t paint any part that couldn’t be painted.  Like the motion sensor eye or the key pad keys and screen.  And I have to say that they did an awesome job of blending their system into their apartment surroundings!

So what does it cost for an apartment security system?  The unit cost just $250 and you own it!  And then for 50 cents a day your apartment can be under to careful eye of a 24 hour security monitoring station!  These systems are inexpensive to buy and inexpensive to have monitored!  Apartments are easy targets for burglars!   It takes just a few second for them to get in and as a tenant you just don’t know who has or had a key to your place in the past!  Apartment communities are supposed to change the locks with every new tenant.   But I really wouldn’t put that much faith in that!  Besides, with all the buzz about lock bumping and burglars just kicking doors open.  I highly recommend getting an alarm system for your apartment!  Below are a few videos that show you how quick a burglar can get into your apartment!  And worse, once they are in they can just close the door and from the outside it looks like everything is just fine!        Click here to see the apartment security systems kit!

This first set of videos is about lock bumping!  Lock bumping videos like this are all over You Tube!  And worse…  There are videos on how to make these special keys!  Just in case you can’t afford to buy them for like a dollar off the internet!  Now I will just be absolutely honest with you!  Your landlord did not buy a door knob lock that is bump resistant!  Your landlord installed a lock set that was as cheap as they could possible get away with and still have the door lock!  But honestly this is just one of three major problems with your current apartment security!  And yes lock bumping works on knob locks the same way as it does with deadbolts!

The second major problem with your apartment security is the door itself!  Even if you change and upgrade your lock system, a burglar can still get in within seconds!  Have a look at this video!  And then just take a look at your doors!  Give them a jiggle and then look at where the lock meets the frame of the door.  Do you think that it would take much effort to get into your apartment?  And as I said above.  The damage from kicking a door in is all on the inside!  There is the initial noise of the kick and then they just go in and close the door!  Your neighbors may here the kick, but by the time they get to look the door is closed and there is nothing to see!  The majority of homes that are burglarized have the door kicked in!  I guess it takes too long to pick or bump the lock!

The third major problem with your apartment security only applies if you have a sliding glass door!  And most apartments do!  Just have a look at this video and then take a look at your sliding glass door!  The first thing you should check is weather or not the door will lift up!  What I mean is, if you were to put suction cups or even your hands on the glass.  Can you lift the door at all?  If so, have your roommate lock you outside the slider and then lift the door and watch how the lock is disabled!  You can just walk right in!  Now you may have a backup, and that is great!  But if the door can be lifted, it bypasses the pole that’s in the track completely!  To fix this you need to install a lock that stops the door from being lifted!  There are several types that will do this!

Actually there are more than three ways to secure this opening!  I included this because I thought it would cover the older more common ways to secure this opening!  You still need to use some form of a pin lock to stop the slider from being lifted!  A track lock, a safe slider, or just a pin through the track!

I like this product below the best!  It is easy to install and solves the problem of lifting the slider out of the track!
